Food guides have a long memory and a short update cycle. A list written in 2019 or 2022 can still rank well today, sending hungry people to shuttered shopfronts. This page is our fix: a record of Singapore pie shops that have closed or moved, written with respect for what they meant to people, and with a pointer to where to go instead.

Oven Marvel, Sunshine Plaza (closed early 2022)

Oven Marvel was a tiny bakery on the ground floor of Sunshine Plaza, 91 Bencoolen Street. It began life under the name Delicious Muffins and was trading by 2009 at the latest; it had become Oven Marvel by 2013. The menu was deliberately short: chicken pies, curry puffs and muffins, all made from scratch, including the butter puff pastry. Food writers named the chef-owner as Johnny Ngiam, a former hotel pastry chef. For the full account from its muffin-shop beginnings, read The Oven Marvel Story on ovenmarvel.com, a fan archive.

Fans remember a flat, round, single-serve chicken pie with a peppery, creamy filling of chicken, peas, carrot and potato, often carried away in a grease-spotted paper bag. Prices crept from about $2.80 in 2009 to $4 by 2018 to 2020. The shop’s closure was reported in mid-March 2022, with the owners reportedly retiring; the same archive sets out how the 2022 closure unfolded and what is still unknown. It is unrelated to any seller in our directory.

Pie Face (all outlets closed)

Pie Face, the Australian pie chain known for the faces drawn on its pie lids, opened three outlets in Singapore in late 2014. All have closed, and the company behind its 313@Somerset outlet was struck off on 22 March 2019. Where to go instead: for an Aussie-style meat pie, see our meat pie guide.

Windowsill Pies: Haji Lane and Westgate (closed; the bakery continues)

Windowsill Pies’ Haji Lane cafe and its Westgate outlet have both closed. The bakery is very much open: it sells whole pies from a kiosk at Great World City and online. Some listings also mention a JEM outlet, which does not appear on the bakery’s own site. See the Windowsill Pies profile.

Wimbly Lu (reported closed)

Wimbly Lu, a dessert cafe that appeared in pie roundups as recently as 2022, is reported to have closed permanently. We could only confirm this through a secondary listing.

Chef Don Lim’s Toa Payoh stalls (closed; the pies moved)

Many people still connect Chef Don Lim, the founder of Don Pie, with Toa Payoh. After he sold the Don Pie brand around 2014 to 2015, he ran a crab bee hoon stall at Blk 206 Toa Payoh North from about 2015, and from late 2019 sold his pies again from Toa Payoh North Food Centre II, at 1008A Toa Payoh North. Both Toa Payoh stalls have closed. In 2021 he co-founded Chicken Pie Kitchen & Don Signature Crab at 39 Tyrwhitt Road in Jalan Besar, where the pies are baked today under the DonChef name, and which now has four takeaway kiosks as well. The nearest outlet to Toa Payoh is the AMK Hub kiosk, three MRT stops north. See the Chicken Pie Kitchen profile, or the plain answer to is there a Don Pie in Toa Payoh now.

An older page on the seller’s own site also mentions a VivoCity kiosk, which no longer appears in its current outlet list.

Deliveroo (stopped operating in Singapore in March 2026)

Not a pie shop, but it matters for pie lovers: Deliveroo stopped operating in Singapore after 4 March 2026. Many seller sites and older guides still say “order on Deliveroo”. The live options are GrabFood, foodpanda, sellers’ own sites and storefront services such as Oddle. Our pie delivery guide has current terms.

Status unclear: check before you go

Some shops are neither confirmed open nor confirmed closed, and we leave them out of the directory until they are.

  • Kemono, Selegie Road: the winner of Miss Tam Chiak’s 2019 blind pie taste test, with Japanese-style truffle prawn and scallop pies. One platform marks it closed; others and a 2026 roundup show it open. Phone before you travel.
  • Hotel chicken pies: M Hotel’s Café 2000 and Marina Mandarin’s Café Mocha have both been known for chicken pies, but we could not confirm current availability or prices.

Why we keep this page

Every closure on this page still appears in an online list somewhere. Keeping a dated record saves readers wasted trips and keeps this guide honest about what has changed. If a shop on this page reopens, we will move it back into the directory.
