The best pies in Singapore are not all in one style, one price band or one neighbourhood, which is why most “best pies” lists feel incomplete. Some only cover $15 cafe pies; others only remember the old-school chicken pie. The Pie List covers both, ranks them, and tells you why.

How we built the Pie List

The Pie List ranks twelve sellers on five things: how consistently independent Singapore food guides recommend them, how clearly they publish menus and prices, how distinctive the pie is, how easy it is to get (outlets and delivery), and value for what you get. It is editorial opinion built on desk research, not a blind tasting. The methodology page explains the process.

Numbers 1 to 4: the names that define the scene

Windowsill Pies

Windowsill is the most consistently recommended pie bakery in Singapore: it appeared in seven of the nine roundups we surveyed. The range of whole sweet pies, from classic pecan to strawberry lemon meringue, is the benchmark for celebration pies. It ranks first because no other seller combines that reputation with clear prices, a current retail kiosk at Great World and reliable islandwide delivery. Plan three days ahead.

Elijah Pies

Elijah Pies is the most flexible pie seller in the city: a slice with coffee, a whole pie for a party, or a 49-piece savoury mini box for the office. Three outlets and same-day delivery make it easy to use. It sits just behind Windowsill because prices vary between its listings, which makes planning harder.

Chicken Pie Kitchen & Don Signature Crab (Chef Don Lim's Don pies)

Don Pie founder Chef Don Lim co-founded this kitchen, which bakes his old-school Hainanese-style chicken pie under the DonChef name: chunky chicken, potato and half a hard-boiled egg under a golden, flaky crust, $6.80 for a personal pie. Eatbook's September 2026 roundup and the Honeycombers list both include it, and it has five outlets.

Polar Puffs & Cakes

Polar's chicken pie is the everyday standard for a reason: halal-certified, $3.20, and sold from kiosks in malls across the island. It is not the most ambitious pie on this list, but it is the one most Singaporeans can buy within a short walk, and for halal diners it is often the first choice.

Numbers 5 to 8: specialists worth the trip

The Shepherd's Pie

The specialist for shepherd's pie since 2007, and the clearest halal-certified option for a savoury pie you can put in the middle of a table. Beef rendang, lamb and plant-based versions, fresh or frozen, from $39.90 for four to six.

Marymount Bakehouse

Marymount does something few Singapore bakers attempt: pies built on a sourdough, or levain, crust, with fillings such as drunken chicken under a black truffle crust. At about $17 for a four-inch pie it is a meal, not a snack, and the most interesting gourmet savoury pie in our directory.

Dona Manis

Katong's banana pie has outlasted three decades of food trends. At $4.50 it is the cheapest pie on this list that people travel across the island for, and a fair reason to make an afternoon of Katong and Joo Chiat.

Cottage Pies Cafe

A Pasir Ris pie cafe making country-style pies since 1997, with a local-leaning menu that includes curry chicken and a macaroni and potato pie. Food guides keep returning to it. We could not confirm current prices, so it carries a check-before-you-go flag.

Numbers 9 to 12: value, convenience and the hard-to-find

Balmoral Bakery

A 1965 Clementi bakery selling chicken pies for around $1.80. It earns its place because it represents how most people actually grew up eating chicken pie, and because a guide that ignores the $2 pie is not a guide to Singapore.

Who just missed the list?

Several sellers came close. Kopi & Tarts is a strong halal-certified alternative to Polar at the same $3.20, with its own delivery. Tiong Bahru Bakery’s chilli crab pie is one of the few Singapore-flavoured seafood pies on a regular counter. The Egyptian Baker’s $9 beef goulash pie in Joo Chiat is the most interesting meat pie in the east. Wheathead’s banana cream pie gives the west a proper dessert pie. Pig N Whistle’s steak and ale pie is the pub option. Violet Oon’s shepherd’s pie trays are the restaurant-made choice for Christmas.

All of them are in the seller directory, and most appear in our pie-type guides: chicken, beef and meat, shepherd’s, apple and sweet pies.

Which famous pie shops did we leave out, and why?

Some names you may expect are missing because they have closed. Oven Marvel at Sunshine Plaza, much loved for its butter puff pastry chicken pies, closed in early 2022; fans keep its memory alive in the Oven Marvel fan archive. Pie Face left Singapore years ago. Windowsill’s Haji Lane cafe has gone, though the bakery continues. Other names are missing because we could not settle their status: Kemono, the winner of a 2019 blind taste test, is marked closed on one platform and open on others. We would rather leave a seller out than send you to a shuttered door. Our closed pie shops page keeps track.

How to use this list

Use the Pie List as a shortlist, then check the details. Prices and delivery terms change, so every seller profile shows what we could confirm, when, and from where. If you need something specific, such as halal certification, a shop near you or a budget, the directory filters and the pie picker are faster than reading a ranking. And if you are less interested in who is best than in the mechanics of buying, a separate guide to where to buy pies in Singapore sorts the options by shops, kiosks and online ordering.

Questions people ask

What is the best pie shop in Singapore?

There is no single best pie shop in Singapore, because a $3.20 chicken pie and a $77 pecan pie do different jobs. On our 2026 list, Windowsill Pies ranks first for whole sweet pies and is the seller most often recommended by Singapore food guides. For a savoury chicken pie, see our best chicken pie guide.

Are these rankings paid for?

No. Nobody pays to appear on the Pie List or in the directory. The ranking is editorial opinion; our methodology page explains how picks are made.

Did you taste every pie on the list?

No. This edition is built on desk research: sellers' own menus and sites, dated food guides and public reviews. We do not claim blind tastings or panels. If we add our own tasting notes in a future edition, we will say so on the listing.

Why is there no score out of ten?

Scores suggest a precision that desk research cannot deliver. We rank in order and explain each pick in words instead, with the facts (price, halal status, delivery) that let you decide for yourself.

How often is the Pie List updated?

The Pie List is reviewed with each edition of the guide. This edition reflects prices, outlets and terms as of October 2026. Pie shops change quickly, so check with the seller before you travel.
