Pie prices in Singapore span a wider range than almost any other bakery item, from under $2 to over $80. The difference is not just quality: it is format, size, ingredients, rent and how the pie reaches you. This guide breaks it down so that you can compare like with like.

What does a pie cost per person?
Whole pies change the maths. Divide the price by the number of servings the seller states:
| Pie | Price | Serves | Cost per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken Pie Kitchen whole chicken pie | $33.80 | 4 to 6 | $5.63 to $8.45 |
| The Shepherd’s Pie baked tray | $39.90 | 4 to 6 | $6.65 to $9.98 |
| Elijah Pies 9-inch whole pie | $65 to $69 | 8 to 10 | $6.50 to $8.63 |
| Quentin’s Curry Debal Pie | Not confirmed | 8 to 10 | Not confirmed |
| Personal pies, bought individually | $3.20 to $9 | 1 | $3.20 to $9 |
Shepherd’s pie trays follow their own price logic, by tray size rather than by pie; shepherdpie.sg’s price guide works through it. That site comes from the kitchen behind Chicken Pie Kitchen and is not related to the seller The Shepherd’s Pie.
So a whole premium pie costs about the same per person as a premium personal pie, and gives you one dish to serve instead of six boxes. For a budget gathering, heartland personal pies remain the cheapest option.
How have pie prices changed?
Two well-documented pies show the trend. The first is the Don pie, made to the recipe Don Pie founder Chef Don Lim dates to 1983 and sold today as DonChef’s Original Chicken Pie, whose prices have been reported at almost every stage since the China Square days; the full Don Pie Price History on donpies.com has the sources.
| Year | Don pie, personal chicken pie | Whole pie |
|---|---|---|
| 2008 (Don Pie, China Square) | Not recorded | $18.00 |
| 2020 (Toa Payoh) | $5.00 | Not recorded |
| 2022 (Tyrwhitt Road) | $6.30 | $28.80 |
| 2023 | $6.80 | $33.80 |
| February 2026 menu | $6.80 | $33.80 |
Oven Marvel’s chicken pie, before the shop closed in 2022, rose from about $2.80 in 2009 to $3.50 in 2013 and $4 from 2018; fans have pieced together a year-by-year record of Oven Marvel’s prices. Both are reviewer-reported or menu figures, which is why we date each one.
Why are some pies so expensive?
- Ingredients: butter pastry, whole chicken thigh, New Zealand beef, Angus beef tail or black truffle all cost more than margarine pastry and minced filling.
- Labour: laminated or sourdough crusts take hours of folding, resting and proofing.
- Rent: a mall kiosk or Orchard counter carries higher rent than a heartland bakery.
- Format: a $77 pecan pie serves eight to ten; per slice it is close to a cafe dessert.
Delivery adds to the price
Delivery is where the real cost of a single pie hides. Specialist bakers typically charge $15 to $28 per delivery below a free-delivery threshold that clusters between $150 and $200. A single $6.80 pie with $15 delivery costs more than double the menu price. Platform delivery through GrabFood or foodpanda suits small orders but adds platform fees and sometimes higher menu prices. Our pie delivery guide compares the terms, and Don Pie Shop’s table of delivery fees across bakeries is useful if you order often.
What “++” means on a menu
Restaurant and cafe menus that show prices with “++” add service charge (commonly 10%) and GST (9%) at the bill, with GST charged on the price plus service charge. A $19.90++ pub pie costs about $23.86. Bakery and kiosk counter prices are normally final.
How to get the best value
- Buy whole pies for groups of four or more.
- Watch for weekday promotions, such as Délifrance’s $6 Tuesday pies, which run until 29 December 2026.
- Combine orders to pass free-delivery thresholds, or collect in person; The Shepherd’s Pie offers 5% off self-collection.
- Use heartland bakeries for everyday pies and save specialists for occasions; the best chicken pie guide covers both ends of the range.
Questions people ask
How much is a chicken pie in Singapore?
As of October 2026, a chicken pie in Singapore costs about $1.80 at an old-school bakery such as Balmoral, $3.20 at Polar or Kopi & Tarts, $6.80 for DonChef's Don pie at Chicken Pie Kitchen, and $8.50 to $8.90 at Délifrance. Gourmet chicken pot pies cost $12 to $19.
Is it cheaper to buy a whole pie?
Usually, yes. A whole savoury pie that feeds four to six works out to about $5.60 to $10 per person, similar to or below a premium personal pie. The saving is bigger when you would otherwise buy several personal pies.
What does ++ mean on a Singapore menu?
The ++ after a price means service charge and GST are added at the bill. Service charge is commonly 10%, and GST is 9%, applied after the service charge, so a $10++ item costs about $11.99. Bakery counter prices usually already include GST.
Have pie prices gone up in Singapore?
Yes. The personal Don chicken pie, made to Chef Don Lim's recipe, was $5 in 2020, $6.30 in 2022 and $6.80 from 2023. Oven Marvel's chicken pie went from about $2.80 in 2009 to $4 by 2018. Whole pies have risen similarly.
